I went to Squaw Lakes in January for the first time. Located near Applegate Lake it is about an 1hr 20min minute drive from our John L Scott Grants Pass Oregon Real Estate office on 7th St. Take OR-238 to for about 25.7 miles to Rush then take a right on Upper Applegate Rd for another 15 miles, turn left on French Gulch Rd (which goes across the Applegate Lake dam), go about 1.4 miles and stay right on Squaw Creek Rd for about 6.6 miles. There is a parking lot to the right and some outhouse style restrooms. You will be in for quite the treat! Big Squaw Lake is 50 acres and Little Squaw Lake is 12 acres. Motor boats are not allowed so you can enjoy the seclusion and quite these lakes have to offer. With trails all around the lake, it's a great place for hiking, or just setting up and having a day with the family, including fishing. Fish include Rainbow Trout, Black Crappie, Largemouth Bass Common, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, and Cutthroat Trout. You have a short walk down to the lake's and you have to carry in your gear. Making it the perfect family outdoor trip. Who knows, you may even get to see some of natures critters when you are there. Southern Oregon has so much to offer. If you know anyone wanting to live in our beautiful area, give Kurt a call at our Grants Pass Real Estate office at 541-660-3844. Below are a few photos from my trip. Enjoy!
