Williams, Oregon, is an unincorporated community in the extreme southwestern part of the state. This Josephine County settlement is situated along Williams Creek, which flows into the Applegate River. Area residents in Williams OR homes can easily reach Oregon Route 238 to the north. The earliest settlers of European descent arrived in the early 1850s, largely interested in the gold deposits that had been discovered in the region. The community and the creek were named for Capt. Robert Williams. He became widely known for his involvement in clashes with the Rogue River Indians during the Rogue River Wars.

Boatnik. This Rogue River event has been continuously held since 1959. There's a memorable boat show on the river, a Sunday night fireworks extravaganza and a Monday F-15 flyover. Riverside Park offers carnival rides and great food as well. Many attendees make a point of attending the Memorial Day hydroplane race.
